DESCRIPTION:Dear Upper Elementary and Middle School Parents\,  \nThe annual PSAA (Private School Athletics Association) Cross Country Meet will be held on Wednesday\, October 15th\, 2025  at Centennial Park in Etobicoke.  \nThe students and teachers will be travelling by bus. The bus is scheduled to depart Clanmore at 9:15 am sharp. We\, unfortunately\, will not be able to wait for late arrivals.  \nThe students and teachers will arrive back at Clanmore at approximately 2:30 pm; Regular pick up time and places will apply.  \nAll year 8 students have to make their own arrangements to return from Centennial Stadium to Clanmore due to their race schedule. \nAs representatives of Clanmore\, all students attending this outing must wear a full Clanmore gym uniform and running shoes for the entire event. This includes the navy shorts\, white Clanmore crested t-shirt\, and Clanmore track pants and hoodie. The students will also be provided with a Kodiak jersey on the day of the event. \nStudents should also be prepared to bring outerwear appropriate for the day’s weather; a warm jacket\, a hat\, sunscreen or rain gear might be needed\, as we attend the Cross Country Meet rain or shine.  \nClanmore has a canopy tent to provide some shelter. \nStudents in Upper Elementary on the catered lunch program will receive a catered packed lunch. All other students in Upper Elementary must bring a packed lunch from home. ALL Middle School students MUST bring their own packed lunch from home. All students are encouraged to bring extra snacks and extra water.  \nParents and families are welcome as spectators and cheering squad during the competitions at Centennial Park. Attached you can find a map that outlines parking and access to the race area. \nThe race schedule is posted below. DESCRIPTION:Dear Clanmore Families\,   \nYou are invited to an orientation to learn about the Listening to Reading program that takes place in the Lower and Upper Elementary communities.  The meeting will take place Wednesday\, October 8 at 8:45am and lasts approximately 20 minutes.LISTENING TO READING \nListening to Reading is a program in which parent volunteers sit in the elementary classrooms once a week and listen to the children read.  It is a program run by the Parent Association and its aim is to give the children a 5-10 minute opportunity to read aloud to an adult.  Additionally\, it is a wonderful opportunity for parents to get a sneak peak into the classroom environment. SUMMARY:Orange Shirt Day (Truth and Reconciliation Day)
DESCRIPTION:Dear Clanmore parents and community\, \n Annually\, on September 30th\, communities across Canada come together to acknowledge the Residential School experience through National Day for Truth and Reconciliation or “Orange Shirt Day”. We honour the healing journey of those affected. We join all of Canada in the commitment to reconciliation and the affirmation of “Every Child Matters”. This year we will acknowledge this day on Tuesday September 30th at Clanmore.  \nTo honour this day\, we the Clanmore Community have decided to focus on learning from the past to inform the future. As such\, we have decided to do the following: \nEarly Childhood – As with every holiday or special day at the preschool level\, this day will be done in a very gentle and age-appropriate way for the students. It will still be a normal day in the classroom in order to keep their routine. The children might be read a story or listen to songs that highlight Indigenous voices. For Casa students in particular we are not asking them to wear an orange shirt as that breaks up their routine of wearing a uniform everyday. Our aim is not to ignore special holidays\, but to celebrate or acknowledge them in a way that is appropriate and meaningful to the children. Lower/Upper Elementary – Within the Elementary program\, the children will be introduced to the meaning behind Orange Shirt Day\, which is Truth and Reconciliation​ as well as the motto “Every Child Matters”. In Lower Elementary we will discuss the importance of every child having a voice and that they are important. In Upper Elementary we will be discussing the importance of this day through a historical perspective with age-appropriate language. Your child is welcome to wear an orange shirt to commemorate this day (but it is not mandatory) \nMiddle School – At the Middle School level students are invited to wear an orange shirt to recognize and raise awareness of the history of the residential school system in Canada. Students will be given an opportunity to discuss the effects of residential schools\, and will gain an awareness of the truth and reconciliation process. Orange Shirt Day will be recognized as a day of observation and remembrance. We will be taking the opportunity to watch and discuss Episode 2 of 8th Fire\, which is a four part CBC documentary examining issues affecting Indigenous peoples in Canada. As the school year continues\, students will dig deeper into issues through Humanities Units\, at which time discussions will include land claims\, modern Indigenous voices\, residential schools\, and truth and reconciliation
