Elementary Dress Down Day
Dear Elementary Families,
On Friday, October 31st, the Elementary community is invited to dress down for the day. The children can wear Halloween colours and/or accessorize with hair bands, earrings, or temporary tattoos. We ask that the children refrain from wearing any part of their Halloween costume or face paint; this can be for the big evening itself.
In addition to the whole Elementary community dressing down, each Elementary classroom will do some fun activities. There will be nothing you need to do for these extra activities; the teachers will support the children at school. We remind you there is no need to send Halloween treats, snacks or loot bags. Please see the school policy information below if you do decide to do so.

Anaphylaxis, Food and Celebrations
It is Clanmore’s policy that no peanuts or nuts be brought into the school, as there are children with life-threatening allergies at all levels of the school. Please ensure that you do not send any items that list peanuts / nuts as ingredients, are labeled “may contain” peanuts / nuts or “is manufactured in a facility” that handles peanuts / nuts. It is also important that children wash their face and hands if they have eaten nuts / peanuts at home before attending school.
Parents must ensure that any restaurant food sent to school is appropriate and adheres to this policy. Please note that the school is aware that all Tim Horton’s food products may have come into contact with nuts and may not be sent to school. The school is not able to confirm for other restaurants.
Any food brought into the school to be shared with others must be commercially prepared (not homemade) and have the ingredient label attached so that we can check what it contains. Please only send one type of item for this purpose ( eg – mini cupcakes OR fruit cups, not both) Please note that for celebrations ( eg – birthdays) we do not hand out party invitations nor do we distribute loot bags to the children, as we do not have time to verify the contents of separate bags of treats. Your vigilance is appreciated in this important safety matter.
